Farming the future
Agricultural mission to Uganda
7th - 13th of February 2023
Opportunities for Dutch companies active in: agriculture, aquaculture, poultry, dairy and the production/sale of agricultural machinery, among others.
In Uganda, more than 70% of households depend on agriculture. The agricultural sector in Uganda and in the rest of East Africa is growing rapidly. This has increased the demand for technology and knowledge significantly, especially regarding potatoes, dairy, fish farming, poultry and feed.
A scan of Uganda's agribusiness was conducted in 2022: The Agribusiness Market Scan. In addition roadmaps have been developed that provide more indepth coverage of different subsectors (aquaculture, potato and poultry).
The study showed that within these sectors there are opportunities for growth in Uganda; but also that in recent years opportunities have arisen for Dutch entrepreneurs active in the above fields. Ugandan companies and farmers are looking for knowledge, materials and new systems to increase efficiency in order to continue the existing growth of their sectors.
On the 10th, 11th and 12th of February 2023, the Harvest Money Expo will take place in Kampala, Uganda. It will be the 6th edition of this successful event. Harvest Money Expo attracts more than 20,000 visitors each year and attracts a lot of media attention. The expo brings together organizations from the international agricultural sector, with the aim of initiating new collaborations to further develop Ugandan sectors. Through the button below you can download the Agribusiness Market Scan containing the challenges and opportunities for the main topics : agriculture, aquaculture, poultry & pig farming.
